Create 3D text, position it along a path, then add the 3D text to your Adobe Photoshop document with the click of a mouse. You can choose your font, and apply surface textures or colors. VERTIGO 3D HotTEXT lets you create custom paths, or choose from a variety of pre-set paths. You can also add custom lighting effects, set your camera view, and control text width, height, depth, and tracking. Make sure Adobe Photoshop 3.0.5 or later and QuickDraw 3D 1.5.1 or later are installed. 2. Double-click the HotTEXT Installer icon. An introduction dialog appears. 3. Click Continue. The End User License Agreement appears. 4. If you accept the terms and conditions of the License Agreement, click Accept to continue. The online Registration screen appears. 5. Complete the Registration screen, then click Register Now! (All fields with bold borders must be completed in order to register.) A dialog box opens, asking you to specify a registration method. 6. Choose a registration method, then click OK. (If you choose to register online, you must have a working connection to the Internet. If you have a manual Internet connection, please connect to your Internet service provider before you start the installation process. If you don't have a online connection, choose Print as a registration method, then send your printed registration form to Vertigo by mail or fax.) The HotTEXT Installer dialog appears. 7. Click Install to start the installation process. VERTIGO 3D HotTEXT is automatically installed in your Adobe Photoshop Plug-ins folder. Note that you can use the Install Location pop-up menu to specify an alternate location to install VERTIGO 3D HotTEXT in. You may want to do this if: ¥ You have multiple disks ¥ You have more than one copy of Adobe Photoshop ¥ You would like to install VERTIGO 3D HotTEXT in a different host application* ¥ You have moved or renamed your Adobe Photoshop Plug-ins folder* *VERTIGO 3D HotTEXT is automatically installed in the folder named "Plug-ins" in the host application you are installing to. If there is no folder named "Plug-ins" and you do not specify an alternate folder, VERTIGO 3D HotTEXT is installed in the main application folder. Once installation is complete, a "successful installation" dialog appears. You can choose to perform additional installations, or quit HotTEXT Installer. 8. Click Quit when you're finished. Documentation The VERTIGO 3D HotTEXT package includes a printed version of the VERTIGO 3D HotTEXT User Guide. An electronic version of this document is found in the PDF file named HotTEXT.pdf. To view this document, use Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0, which is included on the VERTIGO 3D HotTEXT CD-ROM in the Third Party Goodies folder. To install Adobe Acrobat Reader, open the Acrobatª Reader 3.0 folder and double-click Install Acrobat Reader 3.0. Using Adobe Type 1 Enabler Adobe Type 1 Enabler converts PostScript Type 1 fonts to the QuickDraw GX format, and is included on the VERTIGO 3D HotTEXT CD-ROM in the Third Party Goodies folder. If some of the Type 1 fonts in your System Folder are not available in the Vertigo 3D Words Font pop-up menu, you may need to convert them using Adobe Type 1 Enabler. Open the Adobe Type 1 Enabler folder for further information. Also, be sure to read the Font Tips file included on the VERTIGO 3D HotTEXT CD-ROM for addition notes on using Adobe Type 1 Enabler. Alternatively, using Adobe Type Manager¨ Deluxe should allow VERTIGO 3D HotTEXT to read your Type 1 fonts without converting to the QuickDraw GX format. Tips and Troubleshooting If you encounter unexpected results, please consult your manual for advice, or the Font Tips file included on the VERTIGO 3D HotTEXT CD-ROM. You can also check the Vertigo website for up-to-the-minute tips and technical info. This is known limitation that will be resolved in a later release: Working with Converted Paths Occasionally, you may experience difficulty editing a converted path while viewing the scene from a custom view. To work around this, save your current view, then use the Camera View pop-up menu to choose a pre-set view, such as Home or Top. You should be able to edit your path easily from within a pre-set view. You can return to your custom view when you have finished editing the path.
